The Libertarian party committees of Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties want to make the holidays a little bit more joyful for the less fortunate. This year the two committees will be raising money to purchase and distribute care packages to some of Philadelphia’s homeless.
According to committee chair Marc Bozzacco, it’s an effort to bring comfort and dignity to those without the means to care for themselves and instill some hope for a better new year.
“This is an expression of our voluntaryist principles,” says Bozzacco. “This has been a rough year for all of us, but especially for those on the streets. We want to help and bring aid directly to those who need it.”
Each package will contain new items bought in bulk purchased from donations collected on the MontcoLP website. Every $30 raised will provide another person in need with essential items for the holiday season.
“We want the recipients to be a bit more comfortable,” Bozzacco explained. “They will receive a bag with a fleece throw blanket, a comfortable pair of socks, a knit hat, gloves, thermal shirt and pants, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, and a toothbrush and toothpaste.”
The Montco Libertarian Party hopes that people of all political stripes join their cause. The more they receive, the more people they can help.
Until December 25th, All donations submitted will go directly to buy the care packages. You can contribute at their website at www.montcolp.org. Just click the Donate button.
The Montgomery County Libertarian Party works to elect libertarian candidates to local, county, and state-wide offices. They meet monthly as well as hold social and fund-raising events throughout the year.
